Paradigm shift - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradigm_shiftWikipediaA paradigm shift (or revolutionary science) is, according to Thomas Kuhn, in his influential book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (1962), a change in the basic assumptions, or paradigms, within the ruling theory of science.
Have you ever looked at the FEDEX logo and seen the arrow? If not, look at the image above, look at the white space between the green E and X. Do you see the arrow now? When you do see it, I would be willing to bet you will see it everytime you see a FEDEX truck or box from now on.
So, take away the science part of it and let me create a paradigm shift of sorts in the way I want people to look at me. Yes I am a sales person, in the insurance field, I make money by selling but that is not the way I think my current clients or prospects look at me and until you have the opportunity to experience an appointment with me. you will never know.
Let me explain a little further. When a prospect or client meets with me, they receive knowledge, facts and figures about either Medicare, Health Insurance or different life insurance products. They receive the information that I have to offer and then, what they choose to do with that information, is up to them. I am never afraid to walk away after a one hour appointment with someone because I know they have more knowledge than they had an hour earlier. I am also confident that eventually they will take that knowledge and make a comfortable, non-pressured decision they are happy with and that I can sleep well with. Ninety percent of the time, those folks call me back either with a decision or more questions and I am more than happy to help them with either.
So, when you see that FEDEX logo the next time, look at the arrow and think of the paradigm shift I am creating in my life and the life of my clients. The shift is in how they look at sales people but more specifically how they look at the experience they had with me.
By the way, I owe my style of not selling but educating, to a good friend and mentor who brought me into the insurance industry and is always there when I need him. He knows who he is, so if he is reading this, thank you!
