So, yes it has been almost two years since getting into the insurance industry and yes my "book of business" might only be a single page long and many probably wonder "why are you still doing it?". Let me tell you why...
First of all, I'm having fun and fun is what I have always wanted in a job. Now, I don't mean fun like going to Disney fun, I did that in December and can't wait to do it again. I also don't mean fun as in teeing off at my favorite course. The only way I can explain what I mean by fun is the enjoyment I get from being my own boss, making my own schedule (for the most part) and helping people get what they need.
It is also satisfying. Nothing is more satisfying to me than to know I have helped another individual. Whether it is helping someone less fortunate than me or someone affected be a natural disaster ( there's another idea for a blog) or helping people find the health or life insurance coverage they need, it's all satisfying to me to know I helped and that is what I know I have been doing these last 2 years. I may not be getting rich doing it but money is not everything.
Which leads me to my final point. The rewards received, oh sure, the checks that I receive are rewarding and they help pay the bills but what is more rewarding is the relationships I am building with clients. When people do business with me, I jokingly warn them that they are stuck with me. My clients become my friends and know that they can call me with any questions they have, that is customer service at it's best. I learned it from the best and I will always provide the best. If that means stopping in to see a client because he doesn't understand a bill, be it insurance or otherwise, then so be it. And if a 70 year old single female client calls because her car is making a funny noise and she didn't know who else to call, well, I'll stop by to tell her what I think and offer the name of a good mechanic.
