It is something we all have, it's something we all should value very highly, I know I do and I strive to re-inforce that whenever possible. Last month I was put to a difficult task, not because of family but because of how corporate America looks at family. I choose not to let work get in the way of helping a family member in need. Some may argue that the need was not so drastic that one should risk losing employment, but it didn't matter to me, family needed me.
We all have needs, last month it was my brother-in-law needing a little muscle (good thing he only needed a little) and some moral support. In the insurance world, I help potential clients determine their needs and find something that works.
In my search for a definition for "family", I went to "Yahoo answers" and found this response to the question: "How do you define family?" "family is a group of people related to each other by blood, soul, love, kindness or help whenever anyone needs anything." Thus I feel it is save to say that I have a church family, they are someone related by soul, love, kindness and help to name just a few connections. Then there is one other "family" I consider and that is my clients. I always re-inforce to them that I am there, no matter what they need. Every client has my personal cell phone number and is encouraged to use it for whatever they need and I expect them to hold me accountable to this.
I love having the opportunity to work with folks who will soon be family to me.
