I was born and raised in Rochester NH and have lived here most of my life. I have found it very interesting to watch Rochester grow into the city that it is. To see changes take place over the years, My earliest recollection of roadways in Rochester includes the Spaulding Turnpike ending at the intersection of Chestnut Hill Road, then in the 1970s while I was away in the military, it was extended to Wakefield NH and then again, most recently it was expanded to multi-lanes through Rochester. My how things have changed.
When I was a kid, Rochester was a mill town, 2 of those mills are now apartment complexes and another was demolished to make way for Walgreens. Also when I was a kid, the nearest McDonald's was in Newington and we didn't even know what Wendy's was. The Post Office was where the Court House is and the Court House was in the basement of City Hall. My how things have changed.
in high school, I worked for A&W Root Beer, it was located on the Milton Road, right next to where Aroma Joes now is. I also worked for Scala's Sub Shop, Royal Pizza House and for Pizza Hut when they first opened in Rochester.
After high school I joined the Air Force where I proudly served my country for more than 7 years.
